In the past, Cauterisation by means of electrolysis has been used to treat unwanted spider veins or superficial dilated capillaries on the skin, but this modality often resulted in intolerable pain and sometimes scarring (due to burning and blistering).

Since the advent of lasers like the Cutera CoolGlide Excel (ND:Yag) and the Secret RF Smart Cure RF Cautery Device, these treatment options have been used as the preferred methods for the treatment of unwanted small and large veins up to 4mm in thickness. A few treatments may be required to achieve an acceptable level of improvement but these modalities are highly effective and much safer and more predictable than their predecessor (namely cautery by means of electrolysis).

In addition, venous insufficiency, varicosities and superficial spider veins can be drastically improved with a series of Carboxytherapy treatments. It has been scientifically proven that after 4 to 6 Carboxytherapy treatments for lymph drainage, the venous and lymphatic circulation to the affected area viz the limbs can be dramatically improved.

For very large, painful veins such as varicose veins, Sclerotherapy using a sclerosant such as fibrovein successfully treats spider veins and larger veins more than 4mm in diameter.

How to treat unwanted veins

We can offer various treatment modalities for vein removal at Body Renewal:

What to consider before starting a vein removal treatment plan:

Before any vein removal procedure is attempted it is very important to bear in mind that it takes a lot of energy from a laser or RF device to destroy these vessels. A side effect of having treatment may include the formation of PIH (Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation), and in rare cases, blistering of the skin. In order to prevent these side effects and in order to ensure patient safety and protection of the skin, we insist on the proper preparation treatment and products to be used by all our patients before we will go ahead and treat veins.  In this way, we can assure our patient that the very best care has been taken to give them better results and minimise the chances of pain, blistering, skin discolouration and scarring after their vein treatments.

Side effects to consider with Vein Removal (if the skin is not properly prepared for treatment):
